Lorraine
Lorraine Temple – Lorraine has lived a colorful life in Alaska since ’84 as a dog musher, boat captain, motivational speaker, commercial fisherman, tour guide just to name a few of the hats she has worn. Born in Berkeley, she is a Californian who transplanted to Alaska after graduating from UC Santa Barbara with degrees in economics and environmental studies. The ‘call of the wild’ lured her to stay after building a cabin during her first year and settling into the Alaskan lifestyle. Today, she enjoys doing the historical tours of Cooper Landing which she started in 2010, running the vacation rentals she and Mike operate locally and in Homer then going “Outside” for the winter months encouraging students to ‘Follow their own unique path’ with school assemblies titled Alaska Husky Spirit.
Mike
Mike Amos – Mike grew up in Big Timber, Montana but the ‘Big Sky’ didn’t have enough to keep Mike away from his dream state, Alaska! He spent 2 years in the Airforce as a helicopter mechanic after high school but soon, a casual ad in the newspaper caught his eye and the next 3 years he lived in Sand Point, AK working the docks. Starting a family, he returned to Montana to raise 2 boys and start his own construction company. All the while, Alaska loomed ever larger in his heart and 2011, he returned. He landed a job at the Kenai Princess Lodge where he met Lorraine over a lunch table and, you guessed it, the rest is history.
Today live their own dream in a beautiful home overlooking the Kenai River next to the Princess Lodge. Resident huskies welcome guests to Kahtnu Spirit Lodging allowing all to share the serenity and wilderness of the Kenai.
Both agree, ‘Life is pretty darn good’, and it keeps getting better!
